Artist Statement

I am an interdisciplinary artist who uses multimedia painting and sculpture to communicate spirituality, identity, and resilience seen through a matriarchal lens. My work delves into the complexities of being first generation Dominican American woman. Living in two cultures, navigating questions of religion and race, questioning which practices should be passed on to future generations and which no longer serve us. This body of work is an homage to matriarchal strength and resilience. The unwavering gaze of the sculptures and the interwoven messages in the paintings tell the story of determination in the face of adversity.
